Indigo Wash
Indigo Wash takes its logic from the ancient craft of natural indigo dyeing — the practice of building color through repeated immersions, or of diluting the dye bath to achieve lighter tones from the same source. Deep Indigo sits at the first end of this range: the dye at its most concentrated, almost approaching violet-black in very dark contexts given its strong blue-purple bias. Indigo is the canonical tone — the precise color that gives its name to the sixth band of the rainbow, this distinctive blue with just enough red to feel richer and more complex than pure blue.
Blue Indigo shifts the balance slightly toward pure blue, beginning the transition that will end in near-white. This is the most useful workhorse tone in the palette — saturated enough to read clearly, cool enough to feel calm, versatile across text and background applications. Soft Wash is a proper mid-pastel: the color of old indigo-dyed fabric after many washes in sunlight, its pigment not gone but quieted.
