ASE Swatch Viewer & Converter

Upload any .ase file (Adobe Swatch Exchange) to view its colors as swatches with hex and RGB codes. Works with palettes exported from Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and most other Adobe apps. Supports RGB, CMYK, LAB, and grayscale color models — CMYK and LAB are converted to the nearest sRGB equivalent for display. Runs entirely in your browser; your file is never uploaded anywhere.

About the ASE Format

Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) is a binary format for sharing color palettes between Adobe applications. It stores named colors with their model (RGB, CMYK, LAB, or grayscale) along with optional group names. Files typically contain anywhere from a handful of brand colors to hundreds of swatches.

ASE files can be created in Photoshop (Swatches panel → Save Swatches for Exchange), Illustrator, InDesign, and many third-party tools. This viewer reads all standard ASE features and converts them for use in web and design workflows.

Color model conversions

  • RGB — read directly; no conversion needed
  • CMYK — converted to sRGB using standard formulas; rendered values are approximate since CMYK is print-specific
  • LAB — converted to sRGB via XYZ (D65 illuminant); very close to the original intent but may differ slightly from Photoshop's rendering
  • Grayscale — mapped to equal R, G, B values
